Q & A:

Question 1: When did the drive to start mixing/producing & being involved in dance music be a big thing for you in your life?

A: Music has always been a part of my life ever since early junior school with learning Guitar,

Drum Kit and then moving into learning Percussion later on in high school. My love for

electronic dance music came at the end of 2021 after my sister showed me some of her

favourite up-and-coming artists, but it really started after attending Pitch Music and Arts

Festival 2022. For producing, I had always played around in Garage band here and there

band but when I realised that I wanted to take this seriously I merged into Ableton Live.

Question 2: What is your favourite thing about being a producer/DJ?

A: In terms of playing, when you hear the crowd react to a track that you play, it gives you a

sensation that’s difficult to describe. And for producing, it is easily when you or someone

else play’s a track of yours in front of a large group of people and they react to it in a

positive way, it feels as if your work in the studio has paid off.

Question 3: Who has given you the drive to get where you are today?

A: Honestly, if it wasn’t for my sister I wouldn’t be producing/mixing today. She is the one that

originally persuaded me into buying a ticket to Pitch Music and Arts 2022, which I am

extremely grateful for because that is what pushed me over the line to jump into the scene.

Question 4: Who is one of the artists who inspire you the most?

A: X Club. The tracks that they produce, and the way they move a crowd is like nothing I’ve

seen before. Their ‘SCUM’ EP is easily my number 1 as I draw inspiration from basically all

four tracks within it. I also draw inspiration from artists such as Ben Prophet, Chlar, Kettama,

Genex and plenty more.

Question 5: Any upcoming releases we should know about?

A: Since Leo and I started ARCATRAX we have plenty of tracks stored away that are ready to be

released, but we are just waiting for the right moment…

Question 6: You have recently made a duo called ARCATRAX do you think this will be better for

the long run or is it just something for fun between you guys?

A: We are both extremely committed to ARCATRAX and we are keen to see what we can do

within the industry and see how far we can take it.

Question 7: What is one piece of advice you can give to someone just starting in the industry?

A: The biggest thing I’ve taken onboard since I started is that you must network. It’s going to

be tough to get sets, release mixes and meet new people if you don’t go out and get

amongst it.

Question 8: What has your favourite event been this year or one you are looking forward too?

A: My favourite events of 2023 so far have been Beyond the Valley, and Pitch Music and Arts.

Like last year, Pitch just did something to me which is hard to describe, it has pushed me

even further to chase my dreams that I hope to conquer one day.

Question 9: How thankful are you for networking in the community & do you think this plays a

huge role in bookings/connections?

A: Networking is massive. If you don’t have the courage to go up to people within the industry

and talk to them about what you are doing, they mightn’t ever get the chance to see/hear

who you are and what you have.

Question 10: Do you think the Naarm community is growing towards dance music scene?

A: Even in the past year that I have been in the scene, the Naarm dance music scene has grown

exponentially. I am keen to see what it is going to be like in the future.
