Up & coming DJ Konnect has made a statement for himself over the past year, coming off a massive hit labelled "Verdansk" Konnect posted a video on Tiktok of this song & this blew him & that song up having nearly 300k streams on Soundcloud! You could also find Konnect at the likes of Wolf on Watton and St James Nightclub in Geelong where has now become a resident DJ there.
As stated above Konnect has blown up in a matter of time & you can expect big things from this guy as much as new releases and bookings go! Konnect has played at the most recent Shelter Event too which was where I got to see him perform for the first time. We feel like Konnect is a good fit for our mag because of his unique style of posting on social media to gain an audience! We recently caught up with this legend about his pathway to where he is today!
Q & A:
Question 1: When did the drive to start mixing and being involved in Dance music be a big thing for you in your life?
A: I started producing in high school and played a few underages when I was 17 so it's really been building since then.
Question 2: Your Track Verdansk has blown up all over the music scene, what do you think has made a massive impact on this?
A: I can 100% thank TikTok for this! It was a crazy 24hrs when I uploaded that thirty second clip, never did I expect to have a little viral moment where it would reach just over 250k accounts on the platform. Still blows my mind.
Question 3: Who has given you the drive to get where you are today?
A: Honestly I could think of so many artists that have inspired me, my music and djing but the three main artists that standout would be; Airwolf Paradise, Kettama, t e s t p r e s s. But I couldn't answer this question without mentioning my family and friends, the trust and support I get from them is unmatched and that's why I keep moving.
Question 4: What is your favourite Venue you have played at?
A: I played a SHELTER at The Industrique, was such a sick venue but my home away from home at St James in Djilang/Geelong will always have a spot in my heart!
Question 5: Do you think that tik tok has a massive role in where you are today?
A: Definitely as of recently, it's so crazy how quick things can happen for people on the platform. If you can be persistent and are able to post consistently you never know what the algorithm might do. I would have to thank the guys at Teamwrk/Clubwrk for believing in my music though it's hard to say I'd be in this position without them.
Question 6: What is the one song you can't forget to play in your sets?
A: Verdansk, hard to go past this record.
Question 7: What is one piece of advice you can give to those just starting in the industry?
A: Be patient, if you can be patient while working on your craft you never know when things might happen for you!
Question 8: Name your style in 5 words!?
A: Energetic, Bouncy, Fast, Fun, Passionate
Question 9: What is your dream?
A: One day I'd love to have some sort of residency in Ibiza for their summer would be absolutely peak. I'm super proud of my music as well so having something go number one would be a dream come true.
Question 10: Do you feel like the naarm community is growing stronger & stronger towards electronic dance music?
A: Of course, being from Djilang/Geelong music is still so different between both cities but I would say some of the best music in the world right now is coming out of Naarm and I am here for it.
