Interview: @Far-Out (Rod)

If you don't know the name already you should start paying quick attention. Over this year, Rod has started to make quite a name for himself, playing at the likes of Black Market & Turbo & more!

After his release of “Mushroom Clouds” Rod has said that he has a few unreleased tracks that he wants to get out before the end of the year/ early next year!

Being apart of the @blackmarketvic team Rod will certainly be one to look out for in the next following year, as him and the Black Market team are looking forward to smash out events next year after their huge event with BLK & earlier this year with Night Market as well you can expect Rod to hopefully be playing at these and expanding his sound around the Naarm scene!

Knowing Rod personally I knew from the very start how determined he was just as a DJ & to now how much he has grown knowledge to the scene & adapted too is actually scary, Rod & the Black Market boys as well have adapted so much over the year & I can't wait to see all of them grow in 2023!

We recently caught up with Rod to talk about his journey as an Artist/DJ & what you can expect from him in 2023!

Q & A:

Question 1: When did the drive to start mixing/producing & being involved in Dance music be a big thing for you in your life?

A: Probably during 2020 I decided I'm going to get myself out there as a DJ, but music has always been somewhat a part of my life whether just for personal enjoyment or being a bedroom Dj ahahah.

Question 2: Who has given you the drive to get where you are today?

A: Honestly a lot of friends and family always told me to pursue it, especially my parents. When i was a kid instead of bringing me up on radio music or rock they brought me up on old school house music. So, I had a love for the electronic scene from a young age.

Question 3: Being a part of the Black Market team do you think this has given you more drive to achieve your goals?

A: Of Course, it's given me not only a space to grow but also a platform to showcase myself as an artist.

Question 4: What is the main focus right now in your music career?

A: At the moment I've haven't been looking at getting gigs. I've been focusing more on bettering myself as a producer.

Question 5: Who do you think is the hottest up & coming DJ In Naarm Atm?

A: Definitely 6Sense! Those boys have been excelling ahead of the game over the past year, they definitely will go very far with it.

Question 6: Your track "Mushroom clouds" was your very first release. Do you have some forthcoming stuff on the way as well?

A: I have a few tracks that I'm planning on releasing very soon. Just up to all the finishing touches and should be ready before the end of the year.

Question 7: All time fav track?

A: Delirium by Tiesto is by far my all-time favourite track, I've never heard a song that's able to boost the energy in the crowd in such a powerful way. It's completely out of this world.

Question 8: What is one piece of advice you can give to someone just starting in the industry?

A: Don't be afraid to put yourself out there as much as you can, be creative with your sounds in producing and even in your track selection for your set. Always have a couple of gems that no one has heard before because that's what I always look for when I go see someone else play.

Question 9: Name your style in 5 words!?

A: High energy, trance, groovy basslines.

Question 10: What is your dream & do you think you can achieve it one day?

A: I've always imagined what it would be like to play at a major Australian bush doof. The energy of the crowd and that atmosphere is on another level, it would be the most euphoric feeling ever to play to a crowd like that.

Question 11: Do you think Naarm is growing for the dance music scene?

A: It's been unreal to see the progression in music taste around Naarm, it's good to see that people are appreciating a lot of the sub genres that were going unnoticed in the scene.
